USA Weightlifting’s Sophie Shaft and Ella Nicholson recently had successful trips to the Junior and Youth World Championships in Lima, Peru, giving them the confidence and motivation to continue to push towards their ultimate goal of winning gold at the LA 2028 Olympics. The Foundation caught up with the two to learn little more about their paths in the sport!

A former athlete, coach, official and staff member of USA Weightlifting, Suzy Sanchez has now made the “natural” next step to continue to support the sport and organization by becoming a bronze member of Team28. The USA Weightlifting Foundation chatted with Suzy to learn more of why she wanted to be part of Team28.

The USA Weightlifting Foundation had the chance to catch up with Meredith Alwine: !2021 World Champion and 2023 Pan American Games bronze medalist, recently made the transition from representing Team USA on the biggest international stages to Athlete Director of the USA Weightlifting Board of Directors since retiring from competition.
